THE VOTING IS DONE!

We want to thank all 97 people who entered the first ever Best Backyard Burger contest. We thoroughly enjoyed reading the entries and seeing what burger creations you came up with. The final 17, the Sweet Seventeen, should be proud to have just made the cut. It was not easy getting down to that number - and 17 was as low as we could go without killing each other.

The finals are set and these two amateur chefs will battle it out LIVE at The Grind this March 31. So the true test will be what the judges and the burger-loving public have to say about their burgers.

Congratulations again to all the competitors and our two finalists, Roly and Ryan.

...and guys - how about some more creative names?

Roly M: "Bacon Jam"
The burger is a 90/10 chuck and chorizo blend topped with a slice of Gouda and homemade bacon jam. The meat is simply seasoned with kosher salt and pepper. The bacon jam is made with coffee, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, onions, garlic and crushed red pepper flakes.

Ryan B: "Corned Beef Burger"
It's a corn beef patty that sits atop a sweet potato, granny smith hash, topped with a fried egg and hint of chipotle ketchup, all served on a marble rye bun. The meat is freshly ground and the bread homemade.
